Biography

Season 5 Episode 1: Abbott and Costello

Abbott and Costello were one of America’s most beloved comedy duos, blending sharp timing with timeless humor. Bud Abbott, the straight man, and Lou Costello, the bumbling comic, rose to fame in the 1940s through radio, film, and television. Their signature routine, “Who’s on First?”, became a cultural landmark, showcasing their mastery of wordplay and rhythm. Together, they starred in classics like Buck Privates and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, bringing laughter to audiences during wartime and beyond. Though their partnership ended in the 1950s, their influence on comedy endures—an unforgettable mix of wit, warmth, and chaos that defined an era.
