Season 31 Episode 123: November 2, 2026 - Michael Lewis

Jon Stewart breaks down election-week headlines as Democrat Haley Stevens backs Mike Rogers despite once calling him a “nightmare,” news outlets second-guess the polls that keep disappointing everyone, and Trump remains fixated on the reflecting pool. Stewart warns against getting swept up in predictions of a 2026 blue wave, arguing that the media’s poll obsession never really goes away. Later, author Michael Lewis joins Stewart to discuss his book Blockers: Rebels in the Deep State, an inside look at DOGE and the civil servants who resisted it. Lewis recounts standout stories, including a U.S. Institute of Peace standoff that ended with D.C. police intervention, explains how DOGE’s young operatives targeted key public servants, and shares why the experience ultimately left him optimistic.
