A female Jack Russell is found alone and frightened with a badly broken leg on a traveller site in Dagenham, and the rescuers takes her in for treatment, but even their timely intervention may not be enough to restore her ability to walk. Alan visits Socks, an old acquaintance whose persistent flea problem has finally become a thing of the past.
